A high-quality Gustavian gilt tub armchair, crafted in Gothenburg. Stamped on the underside with the Gothenburg city hallmark. The armchair is made in the Egyptian Revival style, which was at the height of fashion around 1800. It features distinctive ram’s head feet at the rear. There are minor losses to the decoration on the seat rail. The Egyptian-style heads and the decoration on the backrest are carved in wood. The front legs are adorned with carved leaf ornamentation. The remaining decorative elements are cast in plaster. The webbing is original.
