18th Century Rococo Secretary by Eisenbletter
18th Century Rococo Secretary by Eisenbletter
A high-quality Rococo secretary crafted by Johan Jacob Eisenbletter (active 1760–1813) in Stockholm. Veneered in jacaranda, amaranth, and plum wood. Signed on the edge of one drawer. The secretary features beautifully designed gilt fittings. Behind the fall-front are six drawers. Between the fall-front and the large lower drawer, there is a narrow pull-out section with storage compartments. The piece retains its original locks.
The secretary is mentioned in Mästarnas möbler ("Masters of Furniture") by Torsten Sylvén, page 107.
Eisenbletter was employed as a model carpenter by the Fortification Office and reported directly to King Gustav III. His sense of form and elegant furniture give his work a distinctive character. They radiate quality and superb craftsmanship.
